“Given the totalizations, blind spots and blind fields associated with the inherited dispositif of urban knowledge, perhaps an urban theory without an outside may be well-positioned to wrest open some new perspectives for both research an action on emergent landscapes of planetary urbanization?” Neil Brenner, Critique of urbanization, 2017.
Following a longstanding interest in the blind spots, initiated by the study of infrastructural spaces and of the terrain vague, OMNIBUS pursues the investigation of ‘other urbanizations.’ Rather then opposing the city to the countryside, or the urban to the rural, we suggest that the non-city, the inbetween, the hinterland is the siege of other urbanization forms worth inspecting in order to fully uncover the current modus operandi of the production of space.
